What Future?

Back in 1980 there was an article in Popular Mechanics about the largest wind mill being built in Boone, North Carolina by General Electric. This two megawatt monster would produce enough power for 400 homes. The magazine also talks about how electric cars are our future.

Well, almost thirty years later I ask - where are the windmills and the electric cars? I mean we had lots of wind mills on farms back in the 1930's, and as for electric cars, they have been around since even before 1900. Read up on the Baker Electric car.

Hey, is it me, or are we going in circles? It was Edison that pushed the Baker electric car, and we still are talking about what we will do when the oil runs out. The future of transportation is a bicycle - as stated by one John Titor, and as for GE, I seriously doubt in our timeline they will build wind mills or time machines because they will become bankrupt - much like Baker electric did.
