Hi Gas?

If you think gasoline is expensive now, well hold on tight. Gas shot up to as high as $3.69/gal where I live back in Feb, but come March it dropped down to $3.09 and now after the latest trouble in Iraq is back up to $3.25 and rising. I predict that we will be paying $4/gal for gas in 2009. Future oil prices will be a lot higher than now.

Thinks could be worse, in London people pay over a pound for a litre of petrol, that is over $8/gas and life goes on. Yes, I believe that long commutes and big SUV trucks are going to not last, because cheap gas is a thing of the past.

Factoryversity

There is a new idea making the rounds is is a hybrid of a factory and a university called a factoryversity. The concept is brand new, but based on what we already had. Many modern companies have research laboratories, but lack access to latest cutting edge scientific minds, on the other hand few universities have in house manufacturing capability. By putting both together you get a fusion that is better than each item separate.

The factoryversity is the future.

Predictions for Programmers

Well, the forecast is gloomy for US programmers. Over the last several years we have seen software firms outsource high tech jobs to India. This is not just programming, but Database Analyst, helpdesk, even the infrastructure of web servers sits now in some far off country.

As a result few americans are studying computer science in college. The reply is that Bill Gates wants more H1B visas for jobs that no longer exist. Many US programmer are unemployed, others have taken jobs in fast food and are barely able to survive.

My Proogramming Prediction
is that we see now a decline in workforce, but a few small companies still hire a programmer or two. However, soon these companies will over the intrernet hire people from other countries. Places where people work for 50 cents an hour and they all want to work at 7-11.

Golden Future

Why are gold prices so high? As a prehistoric horde of value, the yellow metal has been seen as a safe port in times of trouble. The price of other coin metals - silver and copper have also soared on a declining dollar.

As the woeld situation gets worse expect the prices to go even higher. Just this month gold rose suddenly from $900 to over $1000/oz and it is still soaring. The future of gold is golden!
